Police Invaded Gospel Singer’s House upon False Allegation

The Nigerian Special Anti-Robbery Squad Police (SARS) have cantered their eagle's eyes on the popular gospel act, Evangelist Rotimi Onimole well known as Oba Ara as his house was invaded upon false allegation of harbouring cocaine.

Sequel the sanitation of crime crusade embarked upon by Nigerian Police and other related forces, Anti-Robbery Squad attached to Ipakodo, Police Headquarter, area of Lagos State recently busted the mansion owned by the star gospel artistes, Oba Ara based on information they described as wrong and ungrounded information.

The singer's mansion named, "Oba Ara Villa" located at, ikorodu area of Lagos State witnessed the invasion of fully armed Anti-Rubbery Squad police at the wee hour of Tuesday, 27th of October, 2015.

According to one of the Police who visited the house but prefer anonymity revealed to our correspondent who visited the station that they acted according to the information made available to them concerning Oba Ara, "we never knew he is a celebrity, we were informed by one of our informants around the area that his way is questionable.

"That's why we decide to visit his house; we strategically got there around 6am so we can meet him before he leave for the day but unfortunately we couldn't meet him at home.

"We were misinformed by his 16years old younger brother who was so trembling and overwhelmed due to our present that his brother is sleeping in the house. And base on that, we keep calling his number and he didn't pick up his phone. This actually gave us impression that he would probably be at home until we got to the root of the affair and realized that truly the guy was blasphemed.

"The information we got was that, his wealth is questionable, it was gathered that he has cocaine in his house and so on. As you know, our first call is to investigate. We went there and eventually get to know that all are based on figment of people's imagination.

"Oba Ara"  has shown up and he presented all his jobs as an artiste and he also proved to us beyond reasonable doubt that he's also into landed properties.

"We are people's friends, our duty is to protect lives and properties of the common citizenry without any compromise," the police said.

When contacted on phone, the star gospel artiste, Oba Ara said, he was actually performing at a show  when the invasion took place, "I was out of Lagos performing when it happened. I had performed over the night and took little rest in the early hour of Tuesday but when I woke, I realized that I've had lot of miss calls on my phone and I started calling those numbers till I called a particular number owned by one police man.

"He told me they were in my house this morning to investigate something, I asked what happened but he declined to divulge the information to me. I quickly patched up things and start coming down to Lagos.

"I think their visitation is justifiable because that's exactly what we are expecting of our Police; the only problem I've is the kind of impression the action left behind in my neighborhood.

"Because not every eyes that saw the invasion that will see the end of the story that it was based on misinformation. I've been to the station myself and everything was amicably settled.

"I presented all my albums CD and the evidence of my active involvement in landed properties business etc.

"I am a  gospel artiste who's striving to make a head-way in the industry and mostly I invested all I earned from my landed business on my music.

"Of course, I'm very ascertained of where the whole blaspheme and defamation of character emanated from but I'm sure God will always stand by His persons. But all the same, all thanks to Special Anti-Robbery Squad who diligently investigated wrong information fed them about my personality and acquitted me," he said.

    1. Nigerian Police should painstakingly carry out proper investigation with facts before they act on any information, the informant (whom they claimed was a neighbourhood) should be arrested for false allegations and blasphemy. They wanted to dent the reputation of this young,spirit-filled gospel artist. Now , how would they convinced those who saw them when they invaded his house that it was a misinformation?
